The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is responsible for the safety and security of international shipping and to prevent environmental pollution during shipment of these dangerous goods. Different types of IMO containers
The IMO characterizes dangerous goods into nine classes. These include for example gases, explosives and corrosive substances. Each IMO class is displayed on the container by means of the code (e.g. IMO 1) and a label. The container is fully adapted to the substances to be transported in it.
