Are you looking to buy a genset? A genset, short for generator set, is a unit that is used to power the reefer unit of a reefer when it needs to cool it’s content. Gensets are usually a combination of fuel powered and electrical powered generators. This is done so that the genset can function both overseas (on a cargo ship) and on the road (on a cargo truck). When a reefer or refrigerated unit is loaded on a cargo vessel, the genset draws electricity from the ship’s electrical power. When the set is used on the back of a truck however, it’s usually powered by diesel because of the lack of an electrical power supply.
Buy genset container: two types
Generally, there are two types of gensets for shipping containers available. A clip-on genset is clipped on the side of the reefer container or reefer unit, you can recognize it because it wil stick outside of the container unit. An underslung genset is a little bit more difficult to spot. This type of container is mounted on the bottom of a trailer, so the container is loaded on the top. This way, you will have to look at the bottom of the trailer and/or container to spot the genset.
