Used 40FT and 40FT High Cube reefers
A used 40FT reefer container offers considerably more refrigerated storage capacity. Most 40FT reefers are supplied in a High Cube configuration, providing additional internal height. This makes them suitable for larger volumes of chilled or frozen cargo.

Smaller formats, such as 10FT reefer containers, are less common and are mainly used for stationary refrigerated storage. Availability varies, so please contact us when you require a specific size.
What to check before buying a used reefer container
The condition of a used reefer cannot be assessed solely by its age or exterior. The container structure and refrigeration system must both be suitable for the intended application. Important points to consider include:
- the overall structural condition of the container;
- the condition and specifications of the refrigeration unit;
- the required operating temperature;
- the size and internal capacity;
- the availability of valid CSC certification for transport;
- the power supply required at the storage or transport location;
- previous modifications that may affect its suitability.
PTI and technical condition
A Pre-Trip Inspection, commonly referred to as a PTI, checks the operation of the refrigeration unit before the container is used. When an inspection, maintenance or repair is required, we coordinate the work with specialist subcontractors.
CSC certification
A reefer container used for international transport must have valid CSC certification. This confirms that the container structure meets the applicable safety requirements for transport. A PTI and CSC certification serve different purposes: the PTI concerns the refrigeration system, while the CSC inspection concerns the structural safety of the container.
Power supply and gensets
A reefer unit requires an electrical power supply. When no fixed power connection is available during transport, a genset can provide the necessary electricity. Depending on the transport configuration, this can be a clip-on or underslung genset.
